DFP Recruitment is urgently seeking an experience business analyst to join a large program of work being delivered by a Federal Government client.
 
This Client seeks to support effective delivery of crossorganisational initiatives, including new lines of business and strategic projects that cultivate organisational innovation.  This role will play an integral part in helping scope, analyse and progress new business initiatives, as well as helping to drive initiatives on the Technology and Strategy roadmap.
 
Responsibilities
As a Business Analyst within Technology and Strategy you will be responsible for:
  • Assisting in the initiation of new projects through establishing initial requirements and project initiation documentation (business case) that will assist in evaluating the scope and validity of Technology and Strategy projects, their dependencies and required effort before greenlighting new work.
  • Elicit, analyse, and document business and functional requirements for systems and services.
  • Document and analyse as is/to be business processes and workflows.
  • Work closely with the business as a Technology and Strategy liaison to ensure business needs are understood and reflected in the design and roll-out of new solutions.
  • Develop in-depth Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge in areas assigned and share this knowledge with other team members.
  • For technology projects, act as technology evangelist, by informing and training the wider staff on new products and functionality, assisting with Testing and QA where needed as well as collaboratively with the additional testing resources.
Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience as a business analyst working on projects related one or more of the domains within the span of Technology and Strategy Division.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and stakeholder management skills, including strong influencing, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to create easy to follow, compelling documentation to help articulate business needs, gaps and future state outcomes.
  • Ability to use digital toolsets including Jira, Confluence and Miro.
  • Understanding of government organisations.
  • Strong problem solver with good conflict management skills.
  • Strong understanding of IT operations, application and web development, user experience and product management.
Personal Skills:
  • A can-do attitude willing to wear many hats and pivot when required based on the changing needs of a small, nimble government organisation.
  • Collaborative and communicative personality who works to support teams to remove blockers, progress work plans and can guide teams through issues when they arise.
  • Someone who never says, “that isn’t my job” and works to find solutions.
  • Comfortable taking on new things as part of a delivery-focused team working across the entire organisation.
  • Comfortable working in a small agency with a big remit which often requires the need to think outside the box and do things differently to achieve desired outcomes
