Job description

Our client is a not-for-profit organisation, with dedicated team that make learning come to life through hands on, practical education tailored to each student’s unique needs. The delivery structure supports staff to develop genuine relationships with a small group of students, encouraging creativity and curiosity, while nurturing individuals’ talents and interests.

The support teams includes:
  • Teachers
  • Well-being team with youth workers and counsellors
  • Student engagement support
  • Innovation, excellence, and curriculum development
The Role
This position is responsible for assisting students with varying backgrounds, abilities, and levels of challenge including complex behaviour and trauma. LSO’s work with teachers to assist in day-to-day classroom activities and special events. Literacy and numeracy support is enhanced by opportunities to engage students through their personal interest. LSOs are also encouraged to share appropriate passions with the school community encouraging diversity and creativity.
  • Support and assist teacher with effective classroom management strategies.
  • Participate in Peer Support Group (PSG) meetings and other Collage activities and events.
  • Complete administrative task utilising student management system (Compass) including Individual Education Plans (IEP), attendance, student progress, incident and behavioural or other significant matters in a timely and professional manner.
  • Build professional relationships with students based on trust and mutual respect (Strength based approach)
  • Contribute to the safety of all students by adhering to the child safe practices.

Requirements
  • Certificate in Education Support or be willing to undertake training, Youth Services, Community Services or equivalent.
  • Working with children, Police Check, Current Drivers Licence
