Job Title: Technical Officer
Employer: DFP Recruitment Client – State Government
Position Type: 3 Months Full Time (38 hours) Casual Temporary Contract (potential extension)
Pay Rate: $40.37 per hour + Super
Location: Perth, WA 6000
Role Overview:
 
Key Responsibilities;
  • Assist in the assessment of patients referred to the Rehabilitation Engineering Service and provide technical support for the full range of rehabilitation technology services provided by the Service, including:
- cushion systems, seating adaptations and other methods required for pressure management and the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries.
- specialised seating systems and adaptations to wheelchairs and other bases, required for postural support, comfort and the improved function of the patient.
- services related to the specification, manufacture, modification, adaptation and maintenance of wheelchairs and other mobility systems required for functional independence and carer support.
- adaptation of a range of technologies to provide an integrated and optimal solution to the overall equipment needs of the patient in accordance with accepted skills, allocated service responsibility, the procedures and methodologies accepted for use by the Rehabilitation Engineering Service or as otherwise directed.
  • Investigate and collate technical data and information in support of routine service programs
  • Carry out user maintenance on workshop and clinic equipment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and order of designated facilities in accord with accepted standards and safety procedures
  • Assist Clinical and professional Engineering staff with the management, fabrication, modification and development of assistive technology required for REC services
  • Maintain records and provide patient treatment information for the computerised patient management system as required
  • Perform a regular audit of patient loans and retrieve items not in current use for cleaning, maintenance and return to stock
  • Maintain consumables and spares used in the provision of services and update records (including databases), as required
  • Maintain the efficient storage of consumables, spares and loan stock items in the workshop
  • Maintain appropriate contemporary knowledge of and competence through participation in education and in-service training programs, seminar etc
  • Assist with the training of staff within the Rehabilitation Engineering Clinic and patient education related to all aspects of the service and in accord with individual skills and experience
  • Work flexibly across the service to assist other technical staff in their duties ensuring a responsive and optimum service to the patient and undertake other relevant duties as required by management
  • Work in accord with the Hospital’s occupational health and safety requirements and infection control standards
  • Undertake the aforesaid duties and responsibilities with respect to services provided in the Rehabilitation Engineering Clinic at RPH and in the community by means of mobile service facilities and / or outreach clinics provided by the RE Service
  • Participates in quality activities required by the Department
  • Actively participates in the Peak Performance Program
  • Supports the delivery of safe patient care and the consumers’ experience including participation in continuous quality improvement activities in accordance with the requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and other recognised health standards
  • Completes mandatory training (including safety and quality training) as relevant to role.
  • Performs duties in accordance with EMHS Vision and Values, WA Health Code of Conduct, Occupational Safety and Health legislation, the Disability Services Act and the Equal Opportunity Act and Government, WA Health, EMHS and Departmental / Program specific policies and procedures.
  • Undertakes other duties as directed
 
Essential to be successful in the role;
  • AQF 3 or other relevant post-secondary qualification equivalent to approximately 12 months’ full time or formal training.
  • Experience in fault finding, repair, safety checking and quality assurance relevant to the service, maintenance, and the manufacture of mechanical equipment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, organisational and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the general principles of Continuous Quality Improvement and their practical application in systematically evaluating and adapting to provide technology services and meet customers’ needs.

  • Current “C” or “C.A.” class driver’s licence.
  • Current valid NPC or ability to obtain one
