Senior Data Engineer
Contract duration: Till March 25
Daily Rate: up to $1100 + super

DFP Recruitment is urgently seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our state government Client.
Primary purpose of the role
To deliver enterprise Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) capability across the department. This includes supporting the adoption of the department analysis and reporting platform, and to lead the design, development, testing, maintenance, operation and support of the platforms.
The Enterprise Data & Analytics Services platform portfolio includes, but is not limited to the Azure Analytics stack, including Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, Azure Analysis Services, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, and integration with applications, partner applications, Office 365, Power BI and Power platform.

Key accountabilities
- Deliver data solutions that meet requirements and outcomes working with a team of data and analytics specialist engineers, taking responsibility for tasks, deliverables, objectives and standards.
- Using various data platform tools, existing skillsets to new approaches and understanding of current and emerging data management, analytics, statistical, and visual technologies
- Working with a wide variety of data types and structures leveraging analytical skills and existing experiences to solve complex problems and ensuring data solutions are feasible, cost-effective, and sustainable
- Coordinating with other teams for planning, design, governance, engineering and release management processes to ensure timely and accurate delivery of data solutions and services.
- Very strong interpersonal skills: able to build and sustain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical.
- Able to guide, lead and provide knowledge transfer to development teams
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in computer science, engineering or related field and/or equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive knowledge and at least 8 years’ experience in strategies, principles, patterns, standards, best practices, design and development of ETL, data preparation, blending, integration and data quality management.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of enterprise business intelligence architecture, data analytics, data lake/warehouse, ETL and reporting processes, procedures, design standards, patterns and practices, including design for datalake, relational.
- 8 years experience in business intelligence development.
- 5 years developing data solutions using the Azure Analytics stack and Databricks.
- 2 years’ experience with BI tools other than Azure.
- Experience in developing Business Intelligence solutions as a member of a business-focused development team, with responsibilities for design, development, operation, data governance, data management, business collaboration, training and support.
