About the role:
On behalf of our Federal Government Client, we are seeking Expressions of Interest for a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Project Manager to support a range of legislative reform projects.
 
The Project Manager will be tasked with reviewing the team’s project management practices and products and recommending new ways of working which enhance our productivity and ability to deliver high quality, timely outcomes.
 
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Develop a project plan for the duration of their engagement outlining key milestones and deliverables. As part of this plan, the Project Manager should propose the structure and format of the deliverables to be produced.
  • Undertake a fitness for purpose review of previous and existing project management practices and products, including reviewing existing templates, reporting templates, and processes.
  • Consult with team to understand existing ways of working and assess what is working and what could be improved.
  • Consider whether a specific project management methodology should be adopted (i.e. Agile, Waterfall, Lean etc).
  • Recommend new ways of working, including project management products and practices. As part of this, the recommendations must be supported by a clear articulation of the anticipated benefits and efficiency's. Aim to build on existing systems and ways of working to develop a system which will cater to the teams needs and working environment.
  • Provide recommendations for software or applications which could be used to support updated practices and products based upon existing software and applications available to the department.
  • Engage with key stakeholders throughout all stages to understand requirements, pain-points, and to test and validate new practices and products.
  • Upskill team members by providing advice and guidance throughout the engagement.
 
About You:
You will demonstrate your proven experience in project management, ideally in a legislative context or in relation to complex, high-profile policy projects.
 
Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Lean) and the ability to assess and recommend the most appropriate approach.
  • Proven ability to consult with stakeholders to understand requirements, test solutions, and support the successful adoption of new processes and practices.
  • Ability to train and provide guidance on new project management processes and practices, ensuring smooth transitions and buy-in from team members.
  • Experience with complex legal or legislative project management is desirable.
  • A relevant project management qualification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification) is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
