Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the Senior Category Manager to identify strategies and develop the implementation plan for spend within the Category, to maximise value to the organisation.
- Undertakes research of supply markets
- Leads and/or supports the Senior Category Manager to deliver specific sourcing activities
- Assists with project management and reporting on the delivery of category initiatives.
- Develops and manages low risk procurements and agency contracts within the Category.
- Assists in the development and/or management of higher risk contracts.
- Develops relationships with the clients suppliers to ensure successful contract outcomes that maximise value to the Department; and position the client as a good Customer with whom to do business.
- Provides advice to customers, contractors and potential suppliers on routine procurement and contract management matters.
- Develops key performance indicators and contract management plans
- Liaises with suppliers in order to resolve routine contractual disputes.
- Provides proactive and timely advice to stakeholders in relation to routine procurement and contracting issues.
- Promote Category Management as a Department-wide purchasing philosophy, including through participation in cross-functional teams, and commitment to professional development.
- Work with the Senior Category Manager and internal customers to rationalise product ranges and standardise specifications where appropriate and beneficial, and continually improve ordering mechanisms to deliver an efficient and professional customer experience.

Essential to be successful in the role:
- Demonstrated experience in low risk contract development and/or contract management, or relevant project management experience.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to demonstrate how your own work contributes to the achievement of organisational goals and strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and inclusively to build effective relationships and support a positive team environment.
- Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage diverse workload and mitigate risks to achieve quality outcomes that address individual customer/business requirements.
- Demonstrated self-awareness, accountability and commitment to support departmental values in delivering quality outcomes.
