Job description

Our valued State Government client is seeking an experienced Desktop Support Officer to join a team of ICT technical specialists to support enterprise services and solutions hosted and deployed in predominately Microsoft Windows and M365 computing environments. This is a CBD office-based role that may require occasional travel to sites throughout South-East Queensland. 


Key responsibilities:
  • The installation, maintenance and support of the enterprise ICT environments and systems by applying knowledge and technical skills in several of the following technologies:
    • Operating Systems
    • Microsoft 365
    • Desktop and Mobile Hardware
    • Conferencing room hardware and software
    • Network fundamentals TCP/IP, LAN, WAN
    • Antivirus
    • Scripting technologies
  • Analytical and problem-solving activities within an ITIL-based framework. 
  • Participate in the support and deployment of ICT hardware and software across the state of Queensland.
  • Consult, negotiate, liaise and provide expert advice to staff at all levels regarding the operations of the Information Systems infrastructure and facilities. 
  • Participate in an environment and culture in which high quality customer service is delivered through adherence to quality system documentation, continually seeking improvement in the way in which work is undertaken. 
  • Contribute to the effective teamwork with the Technology Services Group by developing an understanding of the roles and duties of other team members and work collaboratively to assist the team in delivering services to supported agencies.

Technical/operational expertise
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Demonstratable analytical experience identifying, investigating and solving problems that arise when participating in an ICT support activity in a large and complex ICT environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to act proactively through self-direction and show a willingness to try new ways of working
  • Strong knowledge of desktop and mobile hardware, Microsoft operating systems, and Microsoft 365
  • Working knowledge of enterprise networking fundamentals
