This Government body works with people with disability, providers, and the community to deliver nationally consistent, responsive, and effective regulation of service providers. They seek to uphold the rights of, and promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of people with disability receiving supports or services.

About the Role:
 
We are seeking an experienced EL1 Assistant Director – Economics to contribute to policy development, pricing strategy, and economic research within the care sector.
 
Duties may include:
  • Conduct economic research and analysis to inform policy decisions, particularly around pricing and market interventions.
  • Support the development and implementation of annual pricing reviews and long-term pricing strategies.
  • Analyze economic data to support evidence-based decision-making on complex pricing and policy issues.
  • Lead the development of provider performance metrics and sector monitoring dashboards to assess market conditions.
  • Plan and execute ad-hoc economic research and analysis projects.
  • Collaborate with other Government Departments, stakeholders, and academic researchers.
  • Contribute to leadership within the branch, fostering a positive and high-performing team culture.
About You: 
  • A postgraduate degree in economics, econometrics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills to address complex economic issues.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate economic insights in plain English for diverse audiences.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making, and governance skills.
  • Experience in developing and implementing analytical frameworks to monitor policy and program impacts.
  • A solid understanding of the economic landscape of the care sector.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively in teams and with stakeholders.
