The Opportunity
Located in East Gippsland an opportunity exists for a laboratory technician to join their operations on an initial 12 month contract. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, this offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to develop your sampling and analysis skills and contribute to the teams’ deliverables.

The Position
A Chemist is an individual contributor in their early career development path. Personnel work with Specialists, mentor Chemists and First Line Supervisors to manage Lab instruments for Safety, Quality, and Operations and solve problems to support operating units and develop methods for non-routine testing. Hands-on work and data analysis is expected. Networking with immediate site key interfaces is expected to develop.

  •  Data integrity (DIAF) Compliance and understanding of QP&G
  •  Develop knowledge of quality assurance based established testing
  •  Solve manufacturing/production problems by using specialised analytical techniques
  •  Responsible for the development and improvement of test methods
  •  Establish credibility in solving analytical problems using a broad range of techniques
  •  Responsible for selection, purchase, validation, removal, and maintenance requirements of test equipment to meet requests/requirements/needs
  •  Sampling and testing of oil, gas, LPG, plant chemicals, wastewater, potable water etc. Completion of calibration and maintenance activities. Involvement in QA and Safety Process

Participation in an on-call roster and work on offshore platforms (requiring travel by helicopter and overnight stays) is expected upon completion of the appropriate training.

  •  A Science or Chemistry degree or diploma
  •  A positive can-do attitude with the ability to operate with integrity and confidence
  •  Strong interpersonal skills with an ability and desire to work well with others in your team and other work groups
  •  The ability to plan and organise yourself to work efficiently and safely in a largely autonomous manner
  •  An interest in work that provides a high level of variety
  •  Strong computer skills (especially Excel) and
  •  A current drivers licence as driving is required for some sample collection and the plant is located in a rural area
