APS5 Parliamentary and Events Officer
About the role
We’re seeking a high performing individual with a cross section of skills and experience in the Parliamentary, Ministerial and Events space. The role sits within the Executive, Strategy and Communications Branch. This is a fast-paced environment that requires accuracy, thoroughness, quality and has exposure to a range of staff and clients at different levels, often working with tight deadlines.

We are looking for a highly organised individual who is able to, multitask and work to multiple deadlines working in a fast-paced environment with proven experience in, parliamentary including brief writing, coordination, senate estimates etc. You can be entrusted to make sound judgment calls and can perform your role with a high degree of accuracy.
You will have personal drive, agility, and the ability to think quickly and respond positively in an environment of change while managing work effectively.

About the role
We’re seeking a high performing individual with a cross section of skills and experience in the Parliamentary, Ministerial and Events space. The role sits within the Executive, Strategy and Communications Branch. This is a fast-paced environment that requires accuracy, thoroughness, quality and has exposure to a range of staff and clients at different levels, often working with tight deadlines.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting the Parliamentary section, including:
- Monitoring and actioning Parliamentary inbox
- Management of Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS)
- Providing administrative support to the CEO, Executive and Staff
- Coordination of briefs and ministerial correspondence, for both internal and external purposes—drafting, proof reading and formatting style, including:
- Ministerial correspondence—researching, drafting and finalising (input gathered either from line areas or external agencies/department)
- Briefing correspondence—drafting briefs including event briefs, edit and proof
- Event Coordination
- Management and coordination of Senate Estimates, Question Time Briefs and Questions on Notice
- Assisting with the tabling of documents in Parliament.

You’ll be able to demonstrate
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to liaise with staff and other external stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team
- Understanding of the Parliamentary processes and legislative requirements (Desirable but not a requirement)
- Proficient IT skills with the ability to adapt to a variety of software packages

- Must hold a current Baseline Security Clearance.
