This Government body works with people with disability, providers, and the community to deliver nationally consistent, responsive, and effective regulation of service providers. They seek to uphold the rights of, and promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of people with disability receiving supports or services.

The Role:
 
We are seeking an APS5 Actuary for the Data and Analytics Branch. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality data and reports, while translating insights into meaningful business performance improvements. The team focuses on enhancing data literacy and developing data solutions across various branches and regions. Your work will include the development and maintenance of an enterprise data warehouse, as well as managing reporting platforms and production content. You will also design and build Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and prototype analytics, identifying trends and key drivers of performance.
 
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Extract, cleanse, and prepare data from multiple sources, with a primary focus on the data warehouse, and perform data quality checks
  • Develop and update regular performance monitoring reports
  • Provide data and analysis for reporting to the Board, Minister, and for public data sharing
  • Apply statistical and mathematical modelling techniques for actuarial monitoring, analysis, data tabulations, scheme projects, and cost-benefit analysis
  • Handle ad hoc modelling and reporting requests
  • Communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) the progress of your work and outcome
 The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Relevant qualifications in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, or Statistics, with progress toward Associate/Fellowship qualifications.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in data extraction, cleansing, and statistical modelling.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain performance monitoring systems and reporting frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
