About the Role:
Our government client, located in Perth's south-eastern suburbs, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Technical Officer to join their Civil Operations team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a background in civil engineering or project management to contribute to the delivery of key civil infrastructure projects. As part of their dynamic team, you will be involved in planning, coordinating, and monitoring the design and construction of civil works, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and contract requirements.

As part of their dynamic team, you will be involved in planning, coordinating, and monitoring the design and construction of civil works, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake design and construction planning, including the preparation of specifications and documentation for civil projects.
- Monitor contractor performance, ensuring compliance with service levels, contractual obligations, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to develop procurement strategies that align with operational needs.
- Work cross-functionally with other teams and directorates to resolve issues or obstacles.
- Provide technical reports and recommendations on procedures, processes, and outcomes to senior management.
- Estimate project costs, create schedules, and contribute to the planning of minor civil projects, supporting the Civil Operations Lead’s work program.
- Qualifications: A Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Significant experience in civil engineering, particularly in road, drainage, and footpath construction and maintenance.
- Knowledge of Municipal Engineering and exposure to local government operations would be highly advantageous.
- Project Management: Experience with contracts, budgets, RFQs, contractors, and deliverables.
- Technical Skills: Ability to create and interpret technical specifications, and to read and interpret engineering plans and drawings.
- Construction and Site Management: Sound knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, including traffic management requirements for road works.
- Cost Control & Estimating: Demonstrated ability in cost control and estimating for civil infrastructure projects.
- Experience with Municipal Engineering practices (not essential)
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and technical documentation.
