  • Location: Barton, ACT
  • Contract: 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension
  • Pay Rate: As per market standard (depending on experience)
  • Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
  • Clearance: Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance or ability to obtain
About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to join a key Change Program. This role is crucial in assisting with the delivery of key elements of the Data Management & Analysis Platform (DMAP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members and contractors to deploy infrastructure, operating systems, and applications, including using infrastructure-as-Code approaches.
  • Participate in stand-ups, sprint planning, technical design workshops, and other relevant meetings.
  • Provide updates on task progress through GitLab tickets.
  • Understand requirements and ensure technical work meets these needs.
  • Communicate constructively with colleagues, product owners, internal clients, and managers.
  • Work effectively in a small team environment.
  • Transfer knowledge and skills to other team members.
  • Maintain records and files in accordance with organizational requirements.
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Linux administration (e.g. Ubuntu, RHEL)
  • Containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Automation tooling (e.g. Ansible)
  • Virtualisation Technologies (VMware, vSphere)
  • Storage Hardware Technologies (e.g NAS, JBOD, VSAN. RAID)
  • Back-up Systems (e.g VEEAM)
  • Minimum 5 years in similar role
  • Must be a team player and be able to work collaboratively
  • AFP Negative Vetting Level 1 or the ability to obtain one
Essential Requirements:
  • Proficient & demonstrated experience at designing, deploying and maintaining Linux systems
  • Understanding and implementing security best practices (e.g. Essential 8, Information Security Manual)
  • Experience using collaboration tools that include git, issue tracking and wikis (e.g. GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps)
  • Understanding network protocols
Desirable Requirements:
  • Centralised logging (e.g. ElasticSearch, Splunk)
  • Cyber Security Practices (e.g Australian Government Information Security Manual, Essential 8)
  • Issue tracking and collaboration tools (Git, GitLab, ServiceNow)
  • Code management and tracking (Git, GitLab)
  • Networking (e.g. Switching, Routing, ACLs, VPN, Proxies, IPSEC)
  • Monitoring Systems (e.g. CheckMK, SNMP)
  • NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • SQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Web servers (e.g. nginx)
  • Message queues/event streaming (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka)
  • Workflow orchestration (e.g. Nifi, Prefect, Airflow)
  • Cloud platform providers (e.g. Azure, AWS or Google)
  • Centralised logging (e.g. Elastic stack ELK, Splunk)
