Job description

Senior Standards Engineer

Our client, one of the largest energy providers in Australia, are seeking a Senior Standards Engineer to Senior Standards Engineer, to play a pivotal role in shaping the technical standards that drive the design, construction, and operation of energy infrastructure.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including regional engineers, commercial services, and industry experts, to ensure engineering solutions meet high standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and update technical documentation, including guidelines, specifications, standards, and manuals, incorporating input from internal teams and industry subject matter experts.
  • Ensure engineering solutions meet design requirements for constructability, operability, and maintainability.
  • Lead safety and risk management workshops to support best practice engineering solutions.
  • Drive the development and improvement of standardised engineering solutions across distribution, transmission, generation, and renewable systems.
  • Lead technical evaluations during equipment trials and tender processes.
  • Ensure all designs, engineering solutions, and products comply with relevant Australian and International Standards.
  • Ensure alignment with business and operational requirements, including technical rules and safety management systems (ENSMS, WASIR, WAER).

Essential Experience:

  • An Electrical Engineering Degree recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Eligibility for Professional Membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Significant experience in a power asset-intensive industry.
  • Expertise in distribution systems, including overhead and underground design, equipment implementation, assembly, and installation practices.
  • Experience with transmission and/or small renewable generation systems, including design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Microstation (CAD design and drafting tool).
