Job description
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer for a 12-month temporary casual contract located in Bentley.
Rate: Candidates will be submitted at the rate of their choosing
Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
Location: Bentley, WA, and occasional travel to regional WA
Duration: 12-month temporary casual contract
KEY ACTIVITIES
- Lead project technical interface and design development – Transmission infrastructure.
- Ensure safety in Design and establish design risk register.
- Support PM to develop project CRAW.
- Maintain TQ Register.
- Support System Planning team to deliver system planning studies.
- Evaluate, organise and prioritise workload to align with project schedule requirements.
- Develop technical packages of work, including drafting scope of works and specifications.
- Manage delivery of all technical packages of work, internal and external (consultants).
- Support PM to maintain the schedule, developing project plans and development of technical presentations.
- Support the Project Director or Project Manager in reviewing Board papers, Briefs, Communications and other internal approvals documentation as required.
- On behalf of the Project Director / Project Manager, review project deliverables for compliance with Project Management Methodology (PMM).
- Coordinate and liaise as required with internal stakeholders, external suppliers and the JV partner technical team.
- Governance – Technical document version control responsibility.
- Ensuring efficient, accurate and timely document and drawing manage using the ProjectWise document transmittal system. (doc control resource to support)
- Provide additional technical project support on an as required basis.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Education/qualifications
- Electrical Engineering Qualification (essential)
- Business/Finance/Project Management Qualifications or other qualifications relevant to projects (desired)
KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Demonstrated experience in scheduling using MS Project or equivalent.
- Detailed understanding of transmission design processes.
- Understanding of transmission systems and network operations.
- Understanding of coordinating and scheduling multiple tasks, projects, calendars and managing internal and external relationships.
Desired
- Project Management and supervision skills.
- Experience managing drawing transmittals via ProjectWise.
- Detail understanding of GIS software.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as project engineer working preferably with some experience working on transmission projects, 220kV and above.
- Experience as senior project engineer or design manager in the electrical transmission sector.
- Extensive experience managing projects using Microsoft Project.
- Experience utilizing QGIS software.
Desired
- An understanding of and experience in applying Project Management Methodologies on projects, developing and finalizing a variety of project documentation for projects in the concept and development stages.
- Experience delivering transmission projects in Western Australia.
