Job description

Are you looking for your next Safety Advisor role? Wanting to relocate to beautiful Carnarvon, Western Australia? 

Our client is seeking an experienced Regional Safety Advisor for a permanent position in Carnarvon, WA.  

Role: Regional Safety Advisor – Midwest  

Salary: $129, 210 per annum plus Superannuation 
Allowances: Up to $50,000 for allowances and relocation 

Hours: Full-time  
Location: Carnarvon WA (open to candidates currently living elsewhere that are willing to relocate)
Type: Permanent   

Primary purpose of position:  
Through an empowered and contemporary ‘hands on’ approach, provide advice, support and coaching to the business in the application and maintenance of the Safety & Health Management System, along with relevant Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice, to support and embed a strong Safety and Health culture in the regions. 

Key Activities/Responsibilities 
Safety engagement and education   
  • Drive positive change in safety and health culture throughout the Midwest region by supporting safety leadership to empower and enable positive safety behaviours across the workforce. 
  • Support the delivery of our critical risk program which focuses on the client’s 8 critical risks and monitor the implementation of our critical risks controls and their effectiveness. 
  • Actively coach and engage Leaders and their teams to understand the importance of safety to increase awareness and ownership from start to finish.   
  • Partner with the business as a subject matter expert to provide advice, training, consultation and monitoring of our safety management system, policies and procedures, safety reporting, and incident and hazard management including correct actions. 
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of regular safety initiatives and promotional material 
  • Proactively, monitor and review / report performance against safety KPI’s and take action to support the improvement of performance and resolution of noncompliance  
  • Lead a variety of safety-related projects aligning to the Safety, Health & Wellbeing Business Plan through consultation and collaboration to improve our safety management system and meet legislative requirements.  
Safety Investigations and ICAMS 
  • Support Investigations including Incident Causation Analysis Method (ICAM) as required, ensuring investigations are completed in a timely manner to identify contributing factors and that appropriate corrective actions are implemented.   
Safety Audits & Inspections  
  • Monitor compliance of the incident management framework and respond to safety concerns  
  • Manage site safety inspections and audits and proactively collaborate with leaders to mitigate business risk 
  • Provide recommendations on the outcomes of audits and inspections, where appropriate  
  • Manage key aspects of data management in collaboration with Safety Advisor - Employee Experience   
Health & wellness  
  • Support the Health & Wellbeing Specialist to champion and implement Health & Wellbeing initiatives in the regions.  
  • Provide ongoing feedback and recommendations to the Health & Wellbeing Specialist regarding lessons learnt and successes. 

ABOUT YOU 
Education/qualifications: 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent is mandatory, or relevant equivalent work experience in Safety & Health.  
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) is desirable 
  • ICAM Investigation qualification or similar is desirable 
  • Current First Aid qualification is desirable 
  • Injury Management qualifications is desirable 
Essential: 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statutory and on statutory legislation associated with the management of workplace safety  
  • Advanced Excel or Word knowledge and application 
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management across a diverse stakeholder group the knowledge to effectively manage conflict and influence favourable outcomes 
  • Demonstrated practice knowledge of auditing & system management 
  • Relevant experience in training and coaching at various levels of an organisation 
Desired:  
  • Refined communication and consultation skills.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the development of safety procedures 
  • Demonstrated safety systems and field auditing  
  • Demonstrated delivery of safety systems training
