Our state government client is seeking an experienced Financial Accounting Manager (L7) for a 3 month temporary casual contract in their Perth CBD office.
Rate: $75 - $85 per hour plus Super
Hours: Full-time - 37.5 hours per week
Location: Perth CBD
Duration: 3 months contract
Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate)
The Role
The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for the delivery of financial accounting services and reporting for the Department and Statutory Authorities, ensuring compliance with relevant policy and legislation.
As the Manager Financial Accounting you will ensure that the financial transactions and assets of the Department are appropriately captured in the Department’s financial systems and statutory financial reporting is undertaken appropriately, in compliance with Government and Departmental policy, Australian Accounting Standards and other relevant legislation.
Responsibilities
• Leads the delivery of financial accounting and reporting in accordance with government policy, legislation and accounting standards.
• Provides financial advice on complex financial accounting matters, including taxation.
• Responsible for the preparation of financial statements and reports for inclusion in the Annual Report and other reporting requirements, including the reporting process and timeframes.
• Responsible for the integrity and control of the Chart of Accounts.
• Responsible for the implementation of the government’s financial management initiatives as they relate to financial accounting, reporting and taxation.
• Manages external and internal audit engagements and responds to enquiries regarding the financial processes and annual accounts.
• Manages the insurance return information to ensure adequate coverage of assets and appropriate risk management.
• Manages cash management monitoring and reporting.
• Manages the preparation and analysis of key performance indicators.
• Responsible for maintaining the availability and integrity of information contained on the FMIS and related systems and ensures the system capability is maximised for the Department.
• Leads to the development of financial accounting policy and procedures and leads the implementation of policy changes across the business.
• Keeps abreast of emerging trends that support good financial accounting practices.
• Liaises with Treasury to ensure compliance with accounting standards and Treasury requirements.
Essential Requirements
• Extensive experience leading and managing in a financial services environment.
• In-depth knowledge of current and emerging trends in financial and asset accounting, including Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Management Act 2006 and Treasurer’s Instructions.
• Ability to develop, promote and implement financial accounting services ensuring business, stakeholder and broader community value.
• Possess of a tertiary qualification in accounting or a related discipline and current membership of the Chartered Accountants Australian and New Zealand (CAANZ) or CPA Australia or the Institute of Public Accountants.
• Current National Police Clearance
