Our state government client is seeking a Legal and Project Support Officer position for an initial 6-month contract with possible extension and potential permanency.
Title: Legal and Project Support Officer
Rate: $50-56 per hour plus Super
Duration: 6 months with possible 6-month extension
Location: East Perth, WA
Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
Employment Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate)
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal and Project Support Officer to join our client's Legal and Commercial Services Team. In this role, you will provide essential paralegal services, risk management support, and contribute to legal and project initiatives across the organization. Your responsibilities will involve conducting legal research, preparing briefings, and supporting the team with compliance and project activities, particularly in coordination with various government agencies.
As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and assisting in managing queries and communications with government agencies. This requires a strong understanding of relevant legal requirements and regulations and the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to support the Legal and Commercial Services Team in their decision-making processes.
- Prepare and draft briefings, legal summaries, and reports to provide clear, concise, and actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with government agencies to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, fielding queries and providing necessary information as needed.
- Monitor and support risk management initiatives to mitigate potential legal and commercial risks.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders, including government agencies, to facilitate seamless project and legal support.
- Provide general administrative support to the Legal and Commercial Services Team, including document management and scheduling.
- Demonstrated experience in legal research, investigations, and preparing briefings.
- Strong written communication and report-writing skills, with an ability to convey complex legal information clearly and effectively.
- Proven track record in building and enhancing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively communicate with government bodies, interpreting and responding to queries in line with legal standards and requirements.
- Previous experience in a legal or paralegal role.
- Familiarity with risk management practices and legal compliance processes.
