The Role
The Koorie Liaison Officer will play a key role in building, strengthening, and maintaining meaningful connections with the local Koorie community across Gippsland. In this position, you will collaborate closely with Aboriginal organisations including Corporations, Traditional Owner Groups, Registered Aboriginal Parties, Aboriginal Land Councils, and Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations to improve educational outcomes for Koorie students. Additionally, the role involves working alongside Koorie Student Support Officers to promote cultural inclusivity, integrate Aboriginal perspectives into the curriculum, and support the organisation's wider cultural objectives.
This is an Indigenous Identified Position exclusively too Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This position represents a special measure in accordance with s8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).

The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering educational and employment opportunities for Koorie learners and committed to leading initiatives that promote equity, inclusion, and cultural awareness.
Requirements
- Deep connections to the Koorie community in Gippsland, with an understanding of the cultural and social issues affecting Koorie learners
- A relevant post-secondary qualification (e.g., Koorie Studies, Education, Community Services)
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring deadlines are met.
- Demonstrated ability to lead Koorie-focused activities and projects
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and basic internet tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Current Victorian Working with Children Clearance
- Current Police Check (issued within the last 12 months)
- A valid Driver’s Licence (travel required)
