Job description

Job Title: Freedom of Information Coordinator
Employer: DFP Recruitment Client – State Government
Position Type: 6 Months Full time Casual Temporary Contract
Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate + Super
Location: East Perth, WA 6004
Key Responsibilities;
  • Manage and process Freedom of Information (FOI) requests in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Acknowledge receipt of FOI requests and ensure responses are provided within statutory timeframes.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and stakeholders to collect and review information relevant to requests
  • Ensure all FOI requests and responses are compliant with applicable laws, such as the Freedom of Information Act, and any associated privacy or confidentiality requirements.
  • Monitor legislative updates and provide advice to the organization on FOI-related compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all FOI requests, responses, and associated communications.
  • Ensure proper filing and archiving of FOI correspondence for reporting and auditing purposes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for FOI enquiries, providing guidance and support to both internal staff and external requestors.
  • Liaise with relevant teams to clarify the scope of requests and ensure the completeness and accuracy of information provided.
  • Prepare regular reports on FOI activities, including request volumes, response times, and outcomes.
  • Identify trends or areas for improvement and make recommendations to enhance the FOI process.
  • Review and refine FOI processes and systems to improve efficiency and ensure best practices are maintained.
  • Contribute to policy updates and implementation of new systems for handling FOI requests effectively.

  • String research, analysis and problem solving skills
  • Interpreting and applying Legislation and Acts
  • Building and enhancing stakeholder relationships
  • Current valid NPC or ability to obtain one
 
DESIRABLE:
  • FOI Experience
  • Communication Legal Services Diploma
