The EL1 Assistant Director of Finance is needed to coordinate and manage detailed or sensitive projects. This role will involve performing various activities that may affect the strategic or operational outcomes supporting the agency.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Lead Financial Reporting Functions: Oversee month-end inputs, reporting, analysis, and controls, including balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Improve Month-End Processes: Drive efficient and accurate month-end cycles across the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate General Ledger Procedures: Manage monthly General Ledger close and reporting procedures, ensuring accuracy in financial records.
  • Prepare Financial Statements: Lead the preparation of financial statements and liaise with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) on audit matters.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with internal and external auditors, business partners, and other stakeholders for effective communication and collaboration.
Key Skills Required:
  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Team leadership skills and experience
  • Ability to lead the preparation of financial statements and reporting
  • Educational Background: Relevant academic qualifications with membership in Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA), or other equivalent professional finance bodies.
