Job description

Our State Government Client is seeking an Azure Cloud Architect to design and support the roll out of a scalable, secure, and cost-effective Azure cloud solution.
This is an exciting project, offering a 6 month contract, with the possibility of extension.

Located in the Brisbane CBD and offering a hybrid WFH model, this role is paying excellent daily rates.


ABOUT THE ROLE:


Infrastructure Design and Management
  • Architect and manage a cloud-agnostic infrastructure to support scalable Spring Boot backend services.
  • Utilize Azure managed services for database, caching, and storage.
  • Establish and optimize containerized deployments using AKS and ACR. 
Caching Solution Setup and Administration
  • Optimize caching strategies to reduce database load and improve application response times.
  • Monitor and fine-tune caching performance to align with application needs.
  • Ensure high availability and fault tolerance of the caching layer.
DevOps Implementation
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment and scaling of backend and frontend applications.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, scaling, and monitoring using Terraform and other IaC tools.
  • Ensure secure and reliable delivery of application artifacts. 
Collaboration and Documentation
  • Document deployment pipelines, caching strategies, infrastructure architecture, and automation workflows
  • Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and IT teams to implement Azure solution. 
Monitoring and Maintenance
  • Set up robust monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms to ensure application performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure and DevOps-related issues proactively.
  • Implement best practices for cost optimization and resource management.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an architecture role
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent.
  • Experience with multi-cloud platforms like AWS and GCP. Azure experience is a must and non-negotiable.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Azure Monitor.
  • Strong experience with frontend and backend application deployments on Azure. 
Technical Expertise 
  • Expertise in Azure cloud services, including AKS, ACR, and managed databases (e.g., Azure SQL, CosmosDB), Azure Application Insights, and Azure Log Analytics.
  • Proficiency in implementing and administering containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong expertise in Terraform for infrastructure automation.
  • Knowledge of cloud-agnostic architecture and multi-cloud strategies.
  • Proficiency with scripting language.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud and DevOps, including container security and secrets management.
  • Experience in managing RBAC and secure networking in AKS.
