Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Acting Principal Project Manager to oversee the administration of government building contracts, including single and multi-storey constructions as well as modular housing projects.
The successful candidate will ensure that contractual obligations are met with integrity and fairness while providing expert supervisory services across major and complex construction projects.
 
This is a contract role, commencing ASAP till the end of June 2025. You will be rewarded with a competitive hourly salary of $76.50 + super and work in Bolsover Street, Rockhampton
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce contractual obligations honestly and fairly.
  • Provide operational contract supervisory services for major and complex construction and engineering contracts.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Organize and lead site meetings in accordance with standardized procedures.
  • Issue Variation Orders and assess contractual claims.
  • Process Contractor’s Requests for Information promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensure the finished product aligns with contract documentation.
  • Prepare defects lists and ensure compliance with Building Act regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of Building Act Compliance inspections.
  • Provide expert advice to assist the Superintendent in dispute resolution.
  • Implement contract administration policies and procedures as directed.
  • Adhere to Government procedures and systems for contract administration.
  • Conduct post-contract performance evaluations and maintain a Pre-Qualified Contractor Register.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project teams regarding cost, time, and quality concerns.
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews and process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to employment equity and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Act as a mentor and primary contact for Superintendent’s Representatives, offering guidance and management support.
 
Key Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration processes for both traditional and non-traditional contracts.
  • Experience in administering government building contracts (single and multi-storey buildings, modular houses) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent understanding of contract law, procurement procedures, and project management principles.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
