The role:

As an APS6 Senior Program Officer, you will play a key role in delivering projects and programs focused on cancer treatment, research funding, clinical trials, and policy development. You’ll contribute to strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based decision-making in cancer control.
 
Key accountabilities will include:
  • Manage and deliver projects, ensuring progress and successful outcomes.
  • Conduct research and data analysis to support policy and best practice guidance.
  • Oversee grants, funding agreements, contracts, and procurement activities.
  • Prepare high-quality plans, reports, and briefing materials.
  • Provide secretariat support and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Guide and support team members while fostering productive relationships.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Government grants experience – manage the CanGrant system and advise on Commonwealth Grant Guidelines.
  • Strategic thinker – align work with agency objectives and contribute to policy development.
  • Results-driven – deliver quality outcomes and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Strong communicator – present ideas clearly and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Integrity & professionalism – uphold APS values, Code of Conduct, and ethical standards.
