Our Client is a Federal Government body that provides independent reviews on decisions made by Australian Government agencies, departments, and ministers, covering areas such as social security, migration, and taxation.
 
They are currently looking for multiple APS2 Tribunal Assistants to join their team in Sydney CBD for an initial 6 month contract with the possibility of extension. They have both full-time and part-time opportunities available.
 
The Tribunal Assistant provides administrative and hearing support to Tribunal members and clients, before, during and after hearings and to assist in delivering registry and client services.

Responsibilities include:
  • Administrative assistance: Provide administrative assistance in the management of cases, including processing correspondence. Operate the Tribunal’s computerised case management systems and use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Hearing support: Support Tribunal hearings including by providing preliminary information to participants, facilitating oaths and affirmations, and operating telephone, video conferencing and recording technology.
  • User engagement: Liaise with parties or their representatives in relation to cases before the Tribunal and provide accurate procedural information. Undertake general front of house receptionist duties.
About You
This role would suit someone with a “can do” attitude who is able to manage competing priorities in an adaptable manner. Someone with experience in or an aptitude for working  in a legal environment would be highly regarded in this role. You will also possess:
  • The ability to acquire and maintain a general working knowledge of the functions, practices and procedures of the Tribunal.
  • The ability to liaise effectively with registry clients, including Tribunal members, other staff, parties to applications and their representatives with sensitivity, tact and awareness of different client needs.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to develop productive relationships and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Have the capacity to use computer-based information systems and Microsoft office applications.
