Job description

  • Federal Government Opportunity in Coffs Harbour 
  • $40 - 43 per hour + super
  • Initial contract until June 2025 with the possibility of long term extension
Our Client is a Federal Government body that is responsible ensuring the safety of maritime vessel operations, combating marine pollution, and search and rescue nationally.  

The Application Support Officer provides procedural, clerical and administrative support for the local office and is responsible for ensuring that applications and certifications are compliant with relevant regulatory frameworks. 

Responsibilities include:
  • Enter data into the Certification and Pilotage System (CPS) and Customer Relations Management (CRM) system applications
  • Conduct initial and qualifying sea service assessments
  • Maintain records in accordance with policy
  • Assist with immigration assessments
  • Process applications and complete verifications of certificates of competency
  • Authorise near coastal certificates of competency and renewals, as directed
  • Maintain an understanding and knowledge of relevant procedures and regulations
  • Provide assistance and advice to clients and stakeholders who are seeking a certificate
  • Propose, plan and execute ideas for continuous improvement and change management
  • When required assist the staff in other regional offices, Canberra and Coffs Harbour
  • Participate and assist in meetings by attendance, act as chair, record and archive
This is a high volume administrative role that would suite someone who:
  • Flexible with learning
  • Able to use Microsoft office applications
  • Has a commitment to delivering high quality outcomes on time
  • Working knowledge of computerised records management systems (preferably Content Manager)
  • Proven administration experience and/or qualifications
  • Strong attention to details 
  • Strong numerical, verbal, and written communication skills with a demonstrated aptitude for communicating information to a wide audience.
  • Strong understanding of the need for file management protocols
  • Ability to understand and analyse legislation and regulations
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures
  • Works well in a team environment
