The Opportunity

On behalf of a Federal Government Agency based in Richmond, we are looking for APS4 Fraud Investigation Officer. This is a 12-month assignment. The role will be paying $43.82 per hour plus super.

Working in the Fraud Intelligence and Investigations team, the role is responsible for detecting and responding to internal and external payment fraud, focusing on protecting the financial sustainability.

Responsibilities include:
  • Utilising a Certificate IV in Government (Investigation), or its equivalent, as set out in Public Services Training Package (PSP04) to support the progression of investigations for criminal prosecution.
  • Working with other investigation assistants under the leadership and coordination of the National Technical Officer (NTO), providing consistent and reliable technical support across the full investigation function.
  • Assessing information, analysing documents, data, and other information, raising or referring issues, and providing appropriate support to investigators.
  • Assisting in preventing inappropriate benefit payments by monitoring, reviewing, checking, and reporting to support compliance and mitigate potential risk.
  • Conducting telephone and face-to-face enquiries when for verifying information and data.
  • Using a range of analytical tools and databases, collecting, collating, and maintaining data records.
  • Maintaining accurate records of decisions and activities using business systems such as Excel, iBase and CRM based system products.
  • Providing administrative support within the team
To be considered you will demonstrate:
  • Previous experience in the similar role
  • Certificate IV in Government (Investigation), or its equivalent would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office 365 suite of software products
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
