Job description

Our client, a State Government Department, is looking for an Experienced Business Intelligence Officer (A06) to play a pivotal role in the ongoing design and development of data modelling, analytics and maintaining robust data. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical experience and a passion for making data-driven decisions. 


Key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Provide essential support to the Quality & Reporting workstream within the Planning and Performance team by designing, developing and maintaining, robust data models. Leverage Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL and other data engineering tools to accurately capture and represent operations and performance metrics.
  • Provide guidance and consultancy services to clients in the development and implementation of the centre’s analytics and reporting solutions including comprehensive data analysis to identify trends, patterns and insights that form strategic decisions.
  • Support business intelligence and analytics initiatives by adhering to industry best practices, ensuring the delivery of consistent, accurate and high-quality outcomes.
  • Working close with the centre’s services to translate business and operational reporting requirements into intuitive and visually compelling dashboards and reporting using modern BI tools to effectively communicate complex data insights.
  • Support the Quality & Reporting workstream in the development and implementation of data model standards within the centre by proactively creating, reviewing and maintaining comprehensive documentation, including standards, data dictionaries and scripts.

Ideally, you will possess the following skills and experience:
  • Knowledge of information architecture, data modelling and data quality with experience in developing and implementing governance policies, standards and processes.
  • Experience working with Health systems to collaborate on reporting/business intelligence initiatives as well as knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics and lake database.
  • Experience using data analytics tools including Power BI, Azure Synapse Workspace, SQL Server 2016 (SSRS, SSMS, SSAS) and MS Excel.
  • Programming languages Apache Spark, R and Python
  • Additionally, you will have strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to liaise with people at all levels both internal and external to the organisation. Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritise your workload effectively while participating cohesively within a team is critical.
