About the Role
This role is specifically designated for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates, in recognition of the importance of cultural knowledge and lived experience in providing meaningful support to Aboriginal students. As the Aboriginal Student Support Officer, you will be a key point of contact for Aboriginal students, providing welfare support, cultural guidance, and assistance to help students succeed in their studies.
Working closely with teachers, managers, and the broader community, you will implement support strategies aimed at improving student retention and success.

- Provide individualised support to Aboriginal students to help them begin and continue their chosen studies.
- Identify and respond to students’ cultural and academic needs, ensuring a culturally safe learning environment.
- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in a timely manner.
- Monitor student engagement and success, conducting regular progress reviews.
- Contribute to the planning, development, and delivery of student programs.
- Offer in-class support to students and teaching staff to enhance learning outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build strong support networks for students.
