Employee Relations Consultant – State Government Contract
Location: Perth CBD, WA
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Duration: 12-month + contract (parental leave cover)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Employment Relations Specialist to join one of our state government clients as an Employee Relations Consultant in Perth CBD. The ideal candidate will possess highly effective communication skills and a strong ability to foster productive relationships with internal stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to provide solution-focused employee relations consultancy and advice to meet the needs of managers and the Department.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with key legislation including the Industrial Relations Act, Public Sector Management Act, Collective Agreements (e.g., 2024 CSA Agreement), Public Sector Award, Occupational Health and Safety Act (WA), and Workplace Relations Act.
- Interpret and apply Public Sector Commission Guidelines, Instructions, and the Public Sector Code of Ethics.
- Analyze and resolve complex employee relations issues such as workplace conflict, formal cases of alleged misconduct, and substandard performance.
- Foster an inclusive workplace, demonstrating a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to manage and resolve employee relations cases effectively.
- Proven experience as an Employment Relations Specialist or similar role.
- Highly proficient in interpreting and applying relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Specialist expertise in managing complex employee relations issues.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace.
- Public Sector experience is desirable.
