About the Role

The APS6 Channel Specialist is a communications professional with expertise in one or more digital channels and a willingness to develop their skills across several platforms to support business-as-usual (BAU) activities and projects.

As part of our team, you will help manage, optimise and disseminate the agency’s external communications across the website, social media, Salesforce (external emails and newsletter). While deep expertise in all channels is not required, we are looking for someone who can cross-skill and provide support across different platforms while driving improvements and strategic direction in their area of specialty.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Provision of channel expertise and strategic advice
  • Lead the management, strategy, and uplift of your specialist channel/s (e.g. website, social media, email campaigns).
  • Implement existing channel uplift activities and identify further opportunities for enhancement and innovation.
  • Ensure the communications going out through each channel align with accessibility, style guidelines and channel specific requirements.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance user engagement and channel performance.
Cross-channel collaboration
  • Support cross-channel BAU operations, including scheduling, publishing, and data analytics.
  • Maintain channel schedulers and release calendars to ensure communications are effectively planned and distributed.
Stakeholder engagement and training
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure content is tailored for each channel, advising on best practices to maximise engagement.
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues on your specialist channel/s to build capability within the team.
  • Work effectively with external vendors to progress channel uplift activities.
Analytics, reporting and evaluation
  • Use data to measure the effectiveness of channel performance and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Generate insights and reports to support decision-making and demonstrate impact.

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Demonstrated experience managing and optimising digital communication channels such as websites (GovCMS or similar), social media and/or external emails, newsletters and campaigns (Salesforce or similar platforms).
  • The ability to work flexibly across multiple platforms, supporting broader team priorities while maintaining ownership of your specialist area.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in using data and insights to drive improvements, whether through native platform analytics or tools like Google Analytics 4.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to work autonomously, apply expertise and support effective channel management and uplift activities.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively in a team and foster a positive supportive workplace.
  • Familiarity with government digital communication standards (e.g., accessibility, style guides) is highly desirable.
 Desirable Experience
  • Website management (e.g., GovCMS or similar CMS platforms).
  • Social media management, including content planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Salesforce (or similar email campaign and CRM platforms).
  • Google Analytics and data-driven reporting.
