Job description

We are seeking experienced and qualified APS6 Historians to work within our client’s Community Engagement’s History Team and Portal Team.

The first role in the History Team creates commemorative and historical resources to share with the broader community. The Team provides departmental services including speech writing, fact checking, and professional guidance on representing military history matters.

The second role in the Portal Team manages the design, development, maintenance and promotion of the Portal website. The website delivers commemorative, historical and educational resources to share with the broader community, to raise awareness of the diverse experiences of Australian military service.


About You

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, high level research skills and be able to manage a variety of competing demands.

In the History team, an Honours, Masters or PhD qualification focusing on an aspect of Australian military history is necessary for this role.

In the Portal team, experience as a digital content writer as well as a History background would highly desirable for this role.


Responsibilities

• Contribute to the Teams work in creating and reviewing historically accurate content for Ministers, executive and the community, to increase their understanding of Australian service.
• Manage competing priorities and projects with fixed deadlines (eg. tied to commemorative anniversaries), while producing high quality and accurate products.
• Collaborate and engage with stakeholders to promote and improve the client’s history and portal offerings.
• Provide expert advice to your section, Director, the branch and executive.
• Ensure projects meet all financial and administrative regulations (eg. procurement is in accordance with appropriate requirements).
• Mentor staff, and build capability as required.
• Oversee and contribute to the development of content, advice, briefings, papers, submissions and correspondence.

• Communicate with influence – including representing the team at both internal and external engagements, and working with internal and external stakeholders.


Australian Citizenship and a National Baseline Clearance are mandatory to be considered for these roles.
