BIOSECURITY FIELD OFFICER - STATE GOVERNMENT CLIENT
Our state government client is seeking numerous Biosecurity Field Officer(s) for a response in Karratha, WA. Biosecurity Field Officer(s) are responsible for conducting field activities in biosecurity and natural disaster emergencies. Activities include surveillance, destruction, disposal, decontamination, and/or vector control.
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Rate: $43.50 per hour plus Super
Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in hourly rate)
Job details:
Location: Based in Karratha, Western Australia
Accomodation: Candidates must have current and secure housing in Karratha, WA, or local surrounds
Start Date: ASAP - Commencing approx. 11 March 2025
Duration: Initial 3-month contract with possible 3–month extension
Hours: Full-time – 38 hours/5 days per week (Mon to Fri)- 6.30am to 3pm
Key Responsibilities:
Interviews will be held in early March 2025 from the clients’ Karratha based office.

Key Responsibilities:
- Survey Vegetation and water sources for foraging bees.
- Maintain safety, resources, and records.
- Comply with incident plans, policies, procedures and safety protocol.
- Conduct and report on tasked field activities for one or more of the following activities:
- Surveillance – observe, assess, and record impact of pest, disease, or disaster.
- Destruction – destruction of biosecurity threat or impact from disaster
- Disposal – removal of biosecurity threat or impact from disaster
- Decontamination – cleaning to remove the biosecurity threat.
- Vector control – remove vectors impacting on biosecurity.
- Previous experience in biosecurity, agriculture, or related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work early mornings and 5 days per week (weekdays only) from 6.30am to 3pm.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Experience in operating in accordance with organisational WHS system.
- Ability to communicate (oral and written) information and advice.
- Ability to understand and comply with instructions, procedures, and workplace systems.
- Ability to perform tasks that require strength, endurance, and adaptability in various settings including extreme conditions, such as high temperatures, confined spaces, or noisy areas.
- Full working rights within Australia.
- Valid C Class driver's license.
- Current National Police Clearance (or able to obtain if successful).
- Able to obtain a medical certificate confirming your physical fitness and suitability for the role.
