Job description

The Opportunity 

We are seeking an APS6 Finance Officer to join a Federal Government Agency based in Geelong or Richmond. This is a 12-month contract, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The APS6 Finance Officer will work within the Finance Branch who manage the maintenance and development of finance systems, analyse financial performance, and provide financial advice to support decision making within the organisation.

As a Finance Officer, you will be required to;
  • Engage with stakeholders to address their questions and concerns.
  • General Ledger interrogation of data to follow up any issues or questions raised from within the FBP and FCB team, along with internal business stakeholders.
  • Create and prepare initial monthly financial business partner reports/slides for group, division and branch where required.
  • Provide general support for the FBP team across the whole function which includes supporting peers/team members in their workloads.
  • Analyse Group’s workforce and assist in end of month forecast where required.
  • Creation of monthly journals for Accruals and any other cost allocation adjustments
To be considered for this role you will demonstrate; 
  • Accounting experience as a Qualified Accountant with 3-5 years in a medium to large organisation.
  • An ability to provide finance advice that is consistent with accounting standards, legislation, and internal policies.
  • Ability to contribute and lead monthly monitoring, trend analysis and reporting of financial performance.
  • Ability to assist in process improvement projects to ensure efficient and effective Finance operations.
  • An ability to collaborate and resolve issues with stakeholders.
  • Finance Business Partnering experience is highly desirable.
