Real Time Data Developer - Pacific Region
 
12 months contract with possible extension
VIC
Must be able to obtain Baseline
 
DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Pacific Real Time Data Developer to join our Federal Government Client team. 
 
Role Responsibilities

·        Design and develop a new Real-Time Data Display (RTDD) system to replace the existing platform.
·        Ensure the RTDD provides near real-time sea level information, weather data, and predictions from Pacific Sea level stations.
·        Skilled developer to contribute to products by designing and implementing advanced data systems.
·        The developer will be responsible for delivering two critical pieces of technology infrastructure

Skills

·        Proven experience in developing scientific software using Open Source and Commercial technologies, particularly:
·        Linux, bash, and shell tools.
·        Python (including libraries such as Numpy, Pandas, Xarray, Fiona, and Shapely).
·        Web development languages and frameworks: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including libraries such as Leaflet).
·        Experience with data formats relevant to climate, weather, and sea level applications, including NetCDF and HDF5.
·        Demonstrated expertise in deploying and managing software on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
·        Proficient in the full software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
·        Demonstrated ability to design user interfaces tailored to low-bandwidth environments and diverse user needs.
·        Candidates with an Understanding of the Pacific region, its people, cultures, and the challenges faced by Pacific Island countries related to climate and ocean variability will be highly regarded.
