About the Role:
We are seeking an Environmental Advisor - Wastewater Quality, for our utilities based client in Bunbury, to play a crucial role in leading regional compliance with regulatory requirements related to resource recovery treatment, biosolids disposal, and reuse. This position will support the optimisation of regional wastewater treatment plants and coordinate specialist technical support to ensure the ongoing safe and consistent management of wastewater products.

We are seeking an Environmental Advisor - Wastewater Quality, for our utilities based client in Bunbury, to play a crucial role in leading regional compliance with regulatory requirements related to resource recovery treatment, biosolids disposal, and reuse. This position will support the optimisation of regional wastewater treatment plants and coordinate specialist technical support to ensure the ongoing safe and consistent management of wastewater products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Implementation of Wastewater Quality Framework: Manage health, social, and environmental risks associated with wastewater treatment and resource recovery.
- Development of Monitoring Programs: Design and implement wastewater monitoring programs to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Review and analyse performance data of regional wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), ensuring data integrity, identifying variances, and tracking trends.
- Non-Compliance Investigations: Investigate non-compliance issues and coordinate corrective actions to address any discrepancies.
- Wastewater Quality Management System (WQMS): Oversee the management and continuous improvement of the Wastewater Quality Management System.
- Support Environmental Reporting: Contribute to the annual environmental reporting process.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with community groups, local government bodies, and third-party partners in managing wastewater and reuse agreements.
- Support Health Department Reporting: Assist with the Department of Health’s annual reporting for reuse schemes.
- Resource Recovery Opportunities: Provide technical expertise to identify and develop opportunities for resource recovery within the region.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary Qualifications: A relevant qualification in environmental science, engineering, natural resource management, or a related field.
- Wastewater Management Experience: Proven experience in managing wastewater systems and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, particularly concerning biosolids disposal and wastewater reuse.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of wastewater quality standards, environmental impacts, and resource recovery opportunities.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience engaging with various stakeholders, including government bodies, community groups, and third parties.
