Job Title: HR Manager
Employer: DFP Recruitment Client – State Government
Position Type: 6 month Full Time Casual Temporary Contract 
Pay Rate: $82 - $87 per hour + Super
Location: Fremantle, WA 6160
Key Responsibilities;
  • Provides strategic and operational advice to Executive Director and Corporate Executive on human resource matters relating to work force planning, training and development and employee relations.
  • Provides operational advice and support to managers and employees on general human resource matters including recruitment, selection and appointment, conditions of employment, redeployment and redundancy, Award/agreement interpretation and Public Sector legislation, regulation and standards, including written correspondence as required.
  • Provides timely strategic, operational, and technical advice and coaching to managers on a broad range of people management topics, including change management, to empower and build the capability of people managers so they are able to competently manage HR matters with confidence.
  • Contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic HR initiatives and programs including benchmarking and quality improvement.
  • Supports continuous improvement of HR services, practices and processes.
  • Oversees the recruitment process between advertising and appointment.
  • Oversees local aspects of the recruitment process in partnership with DBCA People and Culture Branch to ensure the organisation attracts, hires, and retains talent.
  • Collaborates with Directors to understand their hiring needs and provide guidance as required.
  • Monitors employee contracts (commencement/ expiry/ extension) and secondments.
  • Oversees inductions, probationary periods, terminations and staff exits as required.
  • Provides a case management and consultancy service, through partnering with managers, that is proactive and solution focused and responsive to clients’ needs.
  • Provides leadership and advice to all levels and divisions regarding HR compliance with legislation in the context of HR management.
  • Ensures that the planning and provision of employee relations services are consistent with the clients direction and that employee relations matters are managed appropriately.
  • Engages and manages external consultants to provide services if required.
  • Acts as representative at public sector forums including those relating to employee relations matters.
  • Support managers in negotiations with employees and unions on employee relations matters.
 
 
Essential to be successful in this role:  
  1. Substantial demonstrated experience in providing a broad, trusted and accurate human resource consultancy and advisory service.
  2. Substantial demonstrated knowledge and experience in human resource management principles and practices as well as the interpretation and implementation of employment related legislation, awards and agreements.
  3. Highly developed proactive approach to problem solving, underpinned by highly developed conceptual and analytical skills.
  4. Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills as well as good interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to deal with competing demands and deadlines, set priorities and manage a wide workload.
  6. Applies and promotes the principles of equity, diversity and work health and safety in the workplace.
