Job description

DFP Kalgoorlie are seeking an experienced Electrical Service Technician to engage a permanent position with our national client-based in Kalgoorlie  

Working closely with the Area Service Manager of Goldfields and Perth this role will see the successful candidate support the EPSA generators across the Kalgoorlie Goldfields region. You will undertake maintenance and repairs autonomously and minimise potential down time of generators and undertake electrical-based repairs and maintenance as per Australian Standard and State licensing requirements.

Position responsibilities:
  • Configure generating equipment to best suit current operational conditions
  • Fault finding and troubleshooting problems with plant and equipment.
  • Carrying out and completing routine maintenance activities.
  • Provide detailed reports for routine maintenance tasks and unplanned maintenance events.
  • Planning for major and routine outages in line with client and company requirements.
  • Work with National Service Co-ordinator on plant performance and daily maintenance schedules.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • Liaise with team members in recognising improvements and efficiencies in activities, processes and plant.
  • Recording daily operational information, completing service orders, stocktaking, ordering parts and materials.
  • Provide internal assistance with Australia wide technicians.
  • Drive and maintain compliance and a positive, safe and wellbeing culture in the workplace.
Experience and knowledge for the role:
  • Electrical qualifications – A-Grade Electrical and Australian recognised
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the Power Industry.
  • Ability to interpret Electrical / Mechanical and P&ID drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams.
  • Background and experience in operating and or repairing diesel power generation equipment
  • Current Australian drivers’ licence
  • Nationally accredited forklift licence (desirable).
  • High Voltage switching (desirable)
  • Dual trade mechanical (desirable)
  • Sound knowledge of computer and software systems.
  • Ability to operate in remote areas autonomously
  • Self-driven, motivated and well organised
  • Strong and effective communicators across stakeholders
