Data Engineering Manager

12-month contract with possible extension
Hybrid working arrangement - 3 days per week onsite
Location :- ACT, NSW, QLD
Must have Negative Vetting Level 1

DFP Recruitment is seeking a Data Engineering Manager for our federal government client. Data Engineering, will be accountable for the overall management and leadership of the Data Engineering team and associated technologies, under the broad direction of the Director, Data Engineering and Operations

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage competing priorities during team planning to deliver project outcomes.
  • Develop and manage a range of stakeholder relationships.
  • Contribute to strategic directions for data engineering.
  • Contribute to data design and overall data architecture
  • Evolve technologies, platforms, and code accordingly
  • Build, deploy, and maintain ETL code and pipelines for data ingestion and analysis
  • Automate reconciliations and validations
  • Standardise data extraction queries and establish CI/CD pipelines accordingly
 
Qualifications
  • 3+ years in Data Engineering with strong skills in building complex data solutions in Cloud (preferably Azure) using data engineering tools
  • Knowledge of SQL/Python with an ability to analyse transactional datasets to troubleshoot and proactively find gaps in requirements, modelling, and source systems
  • Proficiency in data warehousing concepts
  • Demonstrated background designing, developing, and maintaining ETL processes.
  • Experience with cloud architectures (Azure preferred)
 
Essential Criteria
  • Experience managing a team of data engineers
  • Strong experience in data engineering preferably using DataBricks
  • Proficiency in data warehousing, data modelling, developing data pipelines
