Job Title: DIDO Building Services Assistant
Employer: State Government Client through DFP Recruitment
Position Type: Temporary Casual Contract, there is casual loading in the hourly rate in lieu of leave entitlements
Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate + Super + Allowances. Accommodation and car are provided
Working Hours: Flexible - can do 8/6 roster
Duration: 6 months with strong possibility of extension
Location: Northam, WA and Wheatbelt other areas as required
Role Overview: Perform maintenance, repairs and installation tasks for the Wheatbelt region and assist other Engineering staff as required. The occupant of this position is required to demonstrate a positive commitment to modelling our organisational values, safety and quality improvement and the Code of Conduct in all aspects of their employment. Compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, standards and legislation including Confidentiality and Work Health and Safety policies is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
General Maintenance and Repairs
  • Carry out planned & preventative maintenance as per the maintenance program.
  • Carry out repairs where necessary through the job requisition program
  • Carry out modifications & alterations, including basic concreating, welding and minor carpentry.
  • Carries out the replacement of globes/tubes as required under the supervision of an Electrician.
  • Responsible for the rostered daily monitoring and maintenance associated with steam generation equipment and medical gas supplies.
  • Carry out water testing and dosing as required.
  • Maintain plant rooms and workshop in a clean and safe condition.
  • Compile monthly readings as required
Team Participation
  • Positively participates in and promotes the team management concept within the health service.
  • Attends in‐service training programs and positively participates in performance management programs.
  • Participates in Department Quality activities.
 
Other
  • Actively assists engineering staff as required.
  • Assists in duties in the absence of other Engineering staff.
  • Carry out duties as instructed by the Consultant Engineer and Maintenance Manager Southern.
 
 
 
Essential to be successful in this role:
  • Knowledge of or experience in concreating, basic welding and minor carpentry.
  • Experience in general building and minor mechanical equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to physically undertake duties of working on ladders and working at heights (roofs, EWP’s).
  • Ability to prioritise work, work with limited supervision or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge and experience with power assisted and workshop hand tools.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety Acts and Regulations
  • Possession of a C or C-A Class drivers licence
  • Current National Police Clearance or ability to obtain
  • Must complete WACHS medical clearance
Desirable
  • Certificate of competency, ‘Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck’ (TLILIC2001A).  
  • Certificate of competency to ‘Work Safely in the Construction Industry’ (White Card).
  • Certificate of competency to ‘Working Safely at Heights’ (RIIWHS204D) and ‘Elevating Work Platform’ (TLILIC2005A).
