Job description

We are seeking multiple APS3 Planning Support Officers in various regional locations across South Australia, Ceduna, Port Lincoln, Port Augusta, Whyalla Norrie, Port Pirie, Murray Bridge. This 12-month contract role involves managing workflow, providing administrative support, and engaging with stakeholders. Responsibilities include procedural tasks, basic research, and analysis. We seek enthusiastic individuals with strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills to join our dynamic team.

As these are Federal Government opportunities, Australian Citizenship is mandatory.

The Role:
As the Planning Support Officer, you will assist customers by answering enquiries, booking appointments, making assessments on eligibility for payments and undertaking processing and system entry activities related to a customer’s needs. In addition, you will provide general administrative support to the wider team.
You will handle a wide range of matters regarding eligibility, participation and ongoing access to payments and services for participants.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide counter/reception support for the local office, including participant enquiries in self-help kiosks.
  • Manage the team's shared email inbox, appointments, and telephone enquiries.
  • Coordinate appointments using Agency office facilities and ensure accessibility for participants.
  • Undertake research, investigation activities, and prepare associated reports and correspondence.
  • Interrogate the NDIA Business system to identify appropriate actions.
  • Support planning teams by actioning tasks that do not require delegation.
  • Undertake various data entry activities.
  • Receive and record complaints and other feedback in the NDIA Business systems. (Note: Responsibilities may evolve based on current priorities)
  • Experience in a hot desk environment and at co-located sites.
  • Proficiency in operating telephones and computers.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Interest or previous experience in the Disability Sector is advantageous.
  • Australian Citizenship required for Federal Government roles.
About you:
You will present with a high level of personal resilience and the ability to deal with emotional and challenging customer circumstances and high workload demands. This role will involve liaising with participants on a face to face basis and at times, delivering difficult news / handling challenging conversations.
To be successful in this role you will ideally have proven experience within a customer service environment, ideally within a Government setting.
In addition, you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Advanced MS Office Suite
  • Office Support/Administration (minimum of 2 years)
  • Strong Customer Service experience
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • A high attention to detail
  • Having a strong interest or previous experience with the Disability Sector would be an advantage.
