Job description

Job Title: DIDO Regional Electrical Maintenance Officer
Employer: State Government Client through DFP Recruitment
Position Type: Temporary Casual Contract, there is casual loading in the hourly rate in lieu of leave entitlements
Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate + Super + Allowances. Accommodation and car are provided
Working Hours: Flexible - can do 8/6 roster
Duration: 6 months with strong possibility of extension
Location: Northam, WA and Wheatbelt other areas as required
Role Overview: This role provides effective an effective maintenance service to electrical, electronic, communication and mechanical equipment within designated areas within the Wheatbelt Region. The occupant of this position is required to demonstrate a positive commitment to modelling our organisational values, safety and quality improvement and the Code of Conduct in all aspects of their employment. Compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, standards and legislation including Confidentiality and Work Health and Safety policies is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance
  • Undertake efficient and effective servicing and maintenance of electrical, electronic, communication and mechanical systems and equipment including refrigeration, air-conditioning, sterilisers, hot water boilers, laundry machinery, plant and kitchen equipment.
  • Respond to an issues and undertake initial trouble shooting to identify problems, appropriate solutions and undertake repairs where possible.
  • Communicate with facility management team and organise external support to resolve issues and undertake repairs as required.
  • Provide initial advice and recommendations to the Facilities Manager and Consultant Engineer on issues, requirements for replacement plant or equipment and potential improvements.
  • Ensure Facility Manager is kept up to date on progress of activities, maintain accurate records and provide reports and other information as required.
  • Communicates and promotes compliance requirements and ensures that all facilities have an awareness of compliance requirements and regularly undertakes checks and testing and updates records accordingly.
  • Provide maintenance to networked operating systems.
  • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance as per maintenance programme.
  • Carry out repairs where necessary through the Job Requisition programme & Maintenance programme.
  • Carry out modifications as required.
  • Actively assist Engineering staff and provide support and training to apprentice electricians within the team as required
 
Installation of Electrical Equipment
  • Coordinate and manage the installation of new electrical, electronic and communication equipment in consultation and as approved by the Consultant Engineer.
  • Coordinate and assist in commissioning new systems.
General Maintenance and Repairs
  • Carry out preventative maintenance as and when required outside the maintenance programme.
  • Carry out ad hoc repairs where necessary outside the Job Requisition programme.
  • Carry out modifications and alterations, including all facets of building maintenance.
  • Carry out water testing and dosing as required (i.e. RO plants and Legionella)
  • Maintain plant rooms and workshop in a clean and safe condition.
  • Compile monthly readings as required
 
Team Participation
  • Ensures third party contractors are acting in compliance with electrical standards and safety requirements whilst on site and provide oversight and guidance as required.
  • Undertakes research and provides input into the development of tenders and other procurement activities as required.
  • Positively participates in and promotes the team management concept within the health service.
  • Attends in-service training programmes and positively participates in performance management programmes.
  • Participates in Department Quality and OSH activities
 
Other
  • Ensure electrical standards and requirements are met and promote, and adhere to, electrical safety, compliance and work health and safety requirements in all activities.
  • Provides an after-hours availability service in response to emergency services and maintenance problems as required.
  • Assist in duties in the absence of other engineering staff.
  • Carry out other duties as instructed by the Facilities Managers and Consultant Engineer.
 
Essential to be successful in this role:
  • Eligibility for “A” Class Electrical licence.
  • Current knowledge and understanding of electrical regulations, standards and legislation.
  • Demonstrated sound oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to direct own workload and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving, organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in computerised engineering works management systems and Window based programmes.
  • Experience in general building and equipment maintenance tasks
  • Possession of a current C or C-A Class drivers licence.
  • Current National Police Clearance or ability to obtain
  • Must complete WACHS medical clearance
 
 
Desirable
  • Experience with energy management systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the ACSH’s Quality Program Element – Safe Practice and Environment.
  • Exposure to the Health Industry.
  • Substantial knowledge of Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics and Australian Standards applicable to the health industry in Australia
