Financial Accounting Officer (Taxation) - 3 month contract with possible extension – Perth CBD – State Government Client 
 
Our state government client is seeking an experienced Financial Accounting Officer (Taxation) for a temporary 3-month position in Perth CBD. 
 
Title: Financial Accounting Officer (Taxation) 
 
Rate: $50-55 per hour plus Super 
Location: Perth CBD 
Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week 
Duration: 3 months contract with a possible extension 

Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate) 
   
Role Responsibilities  
Financial Accounting and Reporting  
• Prepares and lodges taxation returns, including Goods and Services Taxation, Fringe Benefits Taxation and Business Activity Statements.  
• Provides taxation advice to business areas within the Department and Statutory Authorities.  
• Provides taxation advice and control to ensure Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing is compliant with taxation legislation. 
• Calculates, processes and controls fringe benefits taxation.  
• Prepares and processes end-of-month and end-of-year journals.  
• Assists with end-of-month and end-of-year reconciliations.  
• Assists with preparation of the Annual Financial Statements and reports for inclusion in the Annual Report and other reporting requirements.  
• Assists with financial analysis as required  
• Assists with financial accounting reporting obligations.

• Demonstrates a genuine commitment to the Department’s values in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders  
• Commits to delivering excellent customer service and uses initiative to identify and implement new and innovative ways of working to continuously improve customer service delivery. 

About the Person 
Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Commerce and/or equivalent relevant experience. 
Experience working within a financial reporting and operational environment, including the ability to undertake reconciliation and analysis. 
Highly developed communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships. 
Demonstrated organisational skills related to project management, managing workloads and priorities. 
Experience in analysing and providing solutions in relation to financial operating issues including reconciliation and monitoring of financial control accounts. 
Experience in a financial service environment including experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger using an integrated Finance Management Information System (FMIS), including intermediate MS Excel skills.
