Job description

Asset Support Officer – 3 months with possible extension – State Gov client – Perth CBD 
 
Rate: $60-70 per hour plus Super (depending on relevant skills and experience) 

 Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week 
Location: Perth CBD 
Duration: 3 months with possible extension  
Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate) 

Title: Asset Support Officer (L5) 

 Duties:  
  • Supports internal and external audits for the Department. 
  • Assists in the update, development and implementation of asset accounting policies and procedures, including the Asset Accounting Manual and asset related forms. 
  • Reviews relevant general ledger accounts to ensure correct asset reporting and recording. 
  • Manages changes to the asset registers including location address combinations, asset categories and depreciation rates. 
  • Maintains all asset supporting documentation and a record of asset labels and arranges appropriate distribution. 
  • Supports all end-of-month and end-of-year reconciliations. 
  • Assists with preparation of the Annual Financial Statements and reports for inclusion in the Annual Report and other reporting requirements. 
  • Prepares reports to meet external reporting obligations. 
  • Contributes expertise and ideas to improvements in financial accounting and reporting. 
  • Performs other duties as required.   

About you: 
  1. Experience in Accounting Standards relevant to asset accounting including capitalisation and expense decision criteria. 
  2. Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Commerce and/or equivalent relevant experience. 
  3. Experience working within a financial reporting and operational environment, including the ability to undertake reconciliation and analysis. 
  4. Highly developed communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships. 
  5. Demonstrated organisational skills related to project management, managing workloads and priorities. 
  6. Experience in analysing and providing solutions in relation to financial operating issues including reconciliation and monitoring of financial control accounts. 
  7. Experience in a financial service environment including experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger using an integrated Finance Management Information System (FMIS), including intermediate MS Excel skills.
